Ifield results
Rain stopped play in the middle of summer but the show went on, well to the ninth hole anyway! Mark Hughes wins the Strokeplay Trophy and Frank Goulding the Stableford Shield.
The players left the clubhouse to get their clubs with no rain in the air and thoughts that we might just get away with a dry afternoons golf at Ifield Golf Course. However, as the first group tee’d off the heavens opened at it rained and drizzled constantly for the first 9 holes. Then a dilemma should we stay or should we go now as we walked past the clubhouse? It was decided correctly in some eyes and wrongly in others to give up, have a shower, get warm and dry again and have a beer! The results at the halfway mark therefore counted for the two individual competitions that were up for grabs with the results as follows:-
Strokeplay Trophy (handicaps of 21 or less)
