For the fourth society outing in a row, count-back decides the winner!

Results – Chartham Park -18th September 2015

Talking to members this is one of our favourite courses to play and again the course was in fabulous condition. As a consequence the low attendance of just 13 players was a real surprise. The weather was kind after the first couple of holes where the heaven’s opened and generally we then got away with some excellent golfing conditions.

One of the highlights of the day was Andy Bishop’s nett “albatross” on the par 3 thirteenth (stroke index 5) – receiving 2 shots he birdied the hole for a nett “zero” and 5 stapleford points – fitting as it was his birthday !

The average stapleford score was a respectable 32.5 for the day with birdies achieved by Gorringe on both the 2nd & 11th, Mann on the 4th, Bishop on the 13th and Tippett on the 14th. The overall results are as follows:-

The Individual Strokeplay Competition was decided on back 9 count back :-

  • Winner: Kevin Weaver (40 points – back nine 20 points)
  • Runner Up: Micky Mann (40 points – back nine 18 points)
  • Third Place: Andy Tippett (36 points)

The Team Stapleford Competition was won by:-

  • Winners: Andy Bishop, Andy Tippett, Michael Mann & Jerry Watkiss (91 points)
  • Runner Up: Tim Gorringe, Kev Weaver & Dave Stocker (89 points)

The Longest Drive was won on the 12th hole by Micky Mann – a corker (that said he missed the green with his second and achieved a 7 !!).

The Nearest the Pin sharp shooter on the 138 yard 3rd Hole was Carl Valentine.

The next outing is on the 16th October at Piltdown golf course – feel free to get your entry in early to avoid disappointment – further details will follow in due course. Good luck to all those off to Spain at some unearthly hour on the 4th October for a few beers and possibly some golf !
