Andrew Burnett & Peter Smith win the first silverware of 2024 (The Mad March Jugs).

With Rob Montagu away Andrew borrowed his mask and sombrero for this event – well anyway he played out of skin by all accounts!!!

Haven’t we been lucky with the weather for our MGS golf events this year.  The East Brighton course was in good condition for the time of year and with the good weather the only disappointment was being stuck behind a very slow society out in front of us making this a 5 hour+ round of golf.

A perfect number for a pairs event of 24 took part in this competition with no last minute dropouts etc which was great. The captain and vice- captain made the draw in the clubhouse just before the start of play overseen by the handicap secretary.  The captain explained the format of the day with the yellow ball counting double when in play which is used alternately by each player in the pair.

Worthy of note was Andrew Burnetts superb round playing off a handicap of 15 (well he was !!) with a round including an eagle and three birdies that overall was just 3 over on this par 72 course – a gross 75!!

The top three pairings were as follows:-
