Ray Hamilton wins the Last Chance Trophy with 25 points on a dry mild but very wet under foot day at Dewlands.

Christmas Event at Dewlands Manor Results

A good attendance with 24 players attending the golf and 25 attending the AGM and Christmas Dinner at the Middle House.

The morning started early with a Texas scramble competition over 9 holes. All players had to contribute a full share of the driving responsibilities and because of the wet conditions teeing up on the fairway and rough was the order of the day. The winners were:

Position Team Gross Nett
Winners Greg Wapling, Ken Wapling, David Howroyd & Jerry Watkiss -2 -4.5
Runners up Derek James, Dereck Coppard, Malc Staplehurst & Paul Hillman -1 -3.4

The Individual Stableford competition was for the Last Chance Trophy and the scoring was good with the 22 points scored by Hon Sec Phil, Tim Gorringe, Derek James & Malc Staplehurst not making the top three! The winners were:-

  • Winner: Ray Hamilton (25 points)
  • Runner Up: Ken Wapling (24 points on count back)
  • Third Place: Greg Wapling (24 points)

The Team Stableford Competition was a close run competition with the best three stableford from four player’s counting on each hole:-

Position Team Points
Winners Ray Hamilton, Tim Gorringe, Andy Bishop & Micky Mann 72
Runners up Greg Wapling, Ken Wapling, David Howroyd & Jerry Watkiss 69

An eagle three on the par 5 last by Micky Mann probably made the difference in the team scores.

The Nearest the Pin (12th) competition was won Tim Gorringe. He left himself an 18 inch putt for birdie which he made.

The Nearest the Pin (15th) saw Tim Gorringe again go very close but the rules stated he could not win both NTP competitions so left the door open for David Howroyd to take the prize.

A Nearest the Pin in two (13th) saw Keith Wapling master this dogleg leaving himself a four foot putt for birdie.

The Longest Drive (18th) was won by Micky Mann with a big hit setting up an eagle at the final par 5 of the day.
