Mid Sussex results
Three tied on 42 points in the clubhouse but Day wins out over Ablitt and Valentine on count-back.
An excellent take up for the 15th May Golf Day at Mid-Sussex GC. The scoring was high and very competitive on a dry but overcast day perfect for golf.
The Individual Stapleford competition saw 3 players in clubhouse on 42 points. Carl Valentine who was 2 over par gross after 9 holes unfortunately carded a double bogey at both the 17th and 18th that cost him the title outright. On back 9 count-back (19 points) despite a cracking round of golf he was placed third. This left Captain Fred Ablitt and Brian Day who both carded a back 9 count-back score of (22 points). The handicap secretary then looked at the last 3 holes on count back where a double bogey at the last compared to bogey made all the difference with Captain Fred (6 points) coming a very close second to a triumphant Brian Day (7 points).
Individual Stapleford

The Team Stapleford Competition was just as close with the best three stapleford scores on each hole counting towards this competition. The winning team averaged 7.16 points per hole which was outstanding.
