Nizels was in very good condition with the greens a little quicker than most players had seen this year but were firm and true.  We had a good turnout of 20 members with the pace of play being very good, despite the hon sec getting miffed about it during the round !!

Anniversary Trophy

The average stableford score for the day was just 28.55 with the defending champion Graham Smith making a valiant attempt to retain the trophy.  This event was played off full society handicaps with all players “putting out” this being a silverware event and just to keep Captain Leftley happy to be honest.  The result was as follows: –

Team Competition

The best two scores from three counted with the usual “battleship” adjustment for the teams of four. See below for the result:-

SecondRob Montagu, Graham Smith, Andrew Burnett & James Gallifant.77

Nearest the Pin (16th Hole 140 yards).

A cracking shot from Andrew Jenner which with him  being in the first group gave everyone a chance to admire it.  Unfortunately, a solid par rather than a birdie was made.

Nearest the Pin in Two (12th Hole 308 yards).

A rather tough hole in the conditions with the green all the way up a steep hill.  Mark Hughes hitting two good ones making him closest to the pin on a green where just a few made it to the dance the floor in two.

Birdies

Just three birdies were achieved on the day as follows:

PlayerHole ScoreYards & Stroke index
James Gallifant3rd  3 on the par 4355 yds SI 4
Micky Mann7th3 on the par 4326 yds SI 8

The societies next event is scheduled for FRIDAY 14th June at the Nevill which is for the Society Stroke play and Stableford Shields. This will be a popular event so do get the date in your diary and let’s hope for some more great weather.

Good luck and fingers crossed for good weather for those travelling on the MGS tour to Montreuil (4th to 6th June) – happy golfing.
