Dyke results
Our 4th event of the year was held at the Dyke GC for a regular individual stableford and team competition. The course was in very good condition and the greens exceptional for this time of year. We started off in cold and grey conditions and ended in bright sunshine enjoying a beer on the balcony.A field of 23 competed for an individual stableford competition and there were 6 teams in the team competition.
The individual event provided some very good scores and eventually Kevan Gill won his second individual event of the year. He was closely followed by the steady Rod Lunn. The captain who has a policy that everything is putted out, suffered a couple of times from his own rule which resulted in some expletives. Scot Wightman lost several balls off the tee and luckily recouped some from the post dinner heads or tails competition.
The team competition provided a wide range of scores. We were counting 3 out of each of the 4 balls and the 1 x 3 ball all their scores. Unfortunately, Adrian Underwood scored 4 points on 2 of the holes his score did not count!
The average score for the day was a 31.00 off Dyke yellow tees. There were 2 players who played above handicap and 10 birdies were achieved. A tight team competition resulted in only 3 points separating the top 2 teams.
