Micky Mann extends his run of good form with back 9 count back win over Stuart Bourne
However, potential new member and guest Peter Alfieri came home with the best score on the day of 39 points on his first outing with the society.
The weather for our trip to Westerham was excellent despite heavy rain overnight the evening before, some even took to wearing shorts for the round !! A good turnout of 27 including two guests whom received a warm welcome being Paul Barber and Peter Alfieri who both played and scored very well on this tricky course.
The average score for the day was a solid 31.81. Folk may have noticed Graham Smith has started to take over the reins on the handicaps with Micky Mann retiring his handicap haircutting scissors from the end of the year after 10 years-service. His words of wisdom to Graham was to take no bribes of a half a pint of beer because folk just take advantage. A whole pint is the minimum to accept for a bit of generosity – just joking in case you are thinking about vice-captain Leftley’s high handicap and the number of pints that must have cost !
Firstly, a well done and well played to Peter Alfieri a guest who scored a very credible 39 points on his first MGS outing. I played with him and he is a good player and good company and hopeful will join the society moving forward. Sadly, guests cannot win the individual competition so he is not included in the first table below.

Second | Graham Smith, Graham Meadows & Stuart Bourne | 82 |
Third | Jerry Watkiss, Keith Townsend & Phil Taylor | 80 |
Nearest the Pin (11th Hole 170 yards).
Keith Townsend with a good effort that my some accounts took a very scenic route to finding its way next to the flag – apparently it went through the windmill and via the clowns mouth before securing the win by a few inches only after a measure.
Nearest the Pin in Two (7th Hole 316 yards).
Rod Lunn who is emerging as an expert in getting the nearest the pin in two prize. The even better news was he walked away with a birdie after sinking the putt – see below on the 7th.
