Stuart Bourne retains Strokeplay Shield and Rod Lunn takes the Stableford Shield on a day that saw four seasons of weather in one round
We had 23 players across the two competitions which included a warm welcome to Mark Saville as a guest of the society. The average stableford score for this event as a whole was 31.22. The course as always was in good condition and very enjoyable to play.
Stroke Play Result
The strokeplay shield competition was again a fiercely fought and felt to be an open competition this year with the bookies struggling to pick a favorite. After winning this shield last year Stuart Bourne again played well seeing off Mark Hughes by just one shot to retain the trophy for a second year. The result was as follows:-
| Place | Player | Score |
| Winner | Stuart Bourne | Nett 71 (Level) |
| Second | Mark Hughes | Nett 72 (+1) |
| Third | Alan Bigley | Nett 70 (+3) |
Stableford Result

In this competition the bookies had Micky Mann down as one of the favourites after his triumph on the recent MGS Golf Tour de France. However, a fine display of golf from Rod Lunn ensured that would not be the case winning by 5 clear points from his nearest rival. Well played Rod. The result was:-
| Place | Player | Score |
| Winner | Rod Lunn | 43 |
| Second | Micky Mann | 38 |
| Third | Kevin Leftley | 37 (B9CB 19) |
| Fourth | James Gallifant | 37 (B9CB 18) |
Team Competition Result

With Rod playing so well it was down to his team mates to chip and ensure a team victory was also achieved. This they did with aplomb. The result was:-
| Place | Player | Score |
| Winners | Rod Lunn, Keith Townsend & James Gallifant | 92 |
| Second | Micky Mann, Kevin Leftley & Peter Cudmore | 85 |
Specialist Competitions
Nearest the PIN: Micky Mann with a shot to within 4ft of the flag – unfortunately missing the birdie but happy with a tap in par on this tricky green.
