Potentially great weather forecast for Sweetwoods!!

We should have guessed our good luck couldn’t last! After excellent days in Jan and Feb, March had to be aborted before even a ball was struck – clearly, it was sufficient just to learn that  past Captain ‘Rainmaker’ Cudmore was planning to attend to cause the heavens to open!

More seriously, we were able to persuade Mannings Heath to allow us to roll forward our deposit until next year without penalty, so I have booked the course for October 2018. Hopefully playing in the Autumn after Summer should give us a much better chance of it being in good shape than playing in Spring after Winter.

Details of our April event are:

Venue:  Sweetwoods Park Golf Club, Colestock Rd, Cowden TN8 7AY tel: 01342 850729   www.sweetwoodspark.com
Date:     Friday 20 April  2018
Time:    11:00 for 12:00 first tee off
Format:  Tea/coffee + bacon rolls on arrival, 18 hole Stableford pairs competition for the Mad March Jugs trophies.  Two course meal to finish. Dress for meal: smart casual.
Cost:       £45 per head

As you can see, it’s still March in MGS, otherwise we’d have to get new trophies for the Mad April Jugs.

Please confirm your attendance by email to bookings@mayfieldgolfingsociety.com by close of business Mon 16 April latest, and transfer your payment to the MGS account in the usual way. The many who have already paid £50 into the club account for Mannings Heath will have a credit for this event, or for the next one you attend. I know Treasurer Tips is really looking forward to dealing with all the queries about the £5 difference between cost for the 2 meetings…

The returned Captain Butler remains keen to host his first event, so we look forward to a good turnout – and good weather – for what is still our first silverware event of the year.

See you there!
