A good turnout of 15 enjoyed some winter sunshine at Royal Eastbourne. The average stableford score for the day was a very impressive 33.2. New Captain Kelvin and vice-Captain James were both in attendance at this first meeting of the year – with Kelvin removing blocks of ice from his car before assembling his golf equipment. The results were as follows: -
With a fantastic 40 points and playing very well again this year Alan Bigley wins the individual spoils: -
|Second||Alan Bond||39 (B9CB 22)|

When Kelvin returned to the clubhouse after just 3hr and 40 mins, the rest of the membership though he must have only played 9 holes maybe 12 at a push!! He had in fact plated 18 and on a serious note the speed of play on the day was excellent with all groups back in the clubhouse in well under 4 hours. A great start to the new year.
The best two scores from the teams of three counted. With second and third above in the same it was down to Micky Mann to pull defeat from the jaws of victory. However, although the weak-link and despite trying hard on occasion his efforts were in vein as they hung on to victory. Results below: -

|Second||Alan Bigley, Kelvin Paterson & John Collingwood||84|
|Third||Andy Williams, Mark Hughes & David Howroyd||81|
|Sandi Hoolahan, Andy Tippett & Kevin Leftley||75|

9 Birdies during the day reflecting some high-quality golf.
The next monthly meeting is at East Brighton another course that drains well with some nice views on a cold winter’s day. Hopefully we will attract a similar number to that event. Our best wishes go to Kevin H and we hope to see him joining us in February.
