Rob Montagu having ridden to Lewes on horseback wearing a sombrero wins the first event of the year at Lewes by 6 shots.
An amazing day weather wise in January where the main complaint was that having layered up expecting a very cold but dry and clear day a number of the society started to complain that they were too warm !! The views from the course on a crystal-clear day was stunning in a number of places.
A good field of 18 competed for the first honours of the year including Guy Barker as a very welcome guest. The average stableford score was a very high 35.00 an average not seen for a couple of years and certainly not in the winter months.
Vice-captain Kevin did a great job of setting up the day and congratulating the winners after a decent pie and mash meal in the clubhouse. The winners are set out below:-
