Pyecombe results

The forecast had been pretty dreadful all week but eighteen players once again braved the elements for what turned out to be a pretty high scoring event. I would like to report there was actually a sunny spell on or around the 8th but it’s quite possible many may have missed it! Having said that the course itself was remarkably dry and the greens had some run on them, depending if you were putting into or with the wind!!

. . . and so to the competition itself. Well, for his first appearance of the year and fresh from his winter sun holidays, our Vice Skipper Chris Buck and partner John Miller came up trumps with a great total of 104pts to win the Mad March Jugs competition, 11pts clear from their nearest rivals. The picture below might explain how they managed to win so comprehensively given that they were meant to use just the one yellow ball between them!!

However, very well played with the Mad March trophies winging their way to them just as soon as the previous recipients can be bothered to return them. (Note: Mr Williams and Mr Leftley)

As I’ve said there were some good scores but a special mention must go to Graham Meadows (attention the handicap Sec if he is reading this) who managed to get a three for ten on the 10th par 4! Clearly not content with it already being a two shot hole, he only went and birdied it as well with Simon Luck his playing partner getting a regular 4 for 3, thus accumulating 13pts on the one hole. Just for the record and the relief of their playing partners, they got a total of 2 on the following hole. Sorry, just thought I should mention it!

The Society welcomed Richard Hannam for his first outing and also guests for the day, Simon Jones and Richard Longworth whom we hope all enjoyed the day.

And so to the full results:

Mad March Jugs winners

Chris Buck and John Miller

Although winners on paper, the rules of the MGS mean guests cannot win a trophy event, but well played to Andy Williams and his guest Simon Jones who amassed an impressive (107pts).
