Society Strokeplay Championship & Society Stableford Championship

We look forward to seeing you on Friday and yes the weather looks very good for our round of golf – you might even need suncream for a change and can leave the brolly in the car!!

We are playing on the challenging East Course !!! which is 7,081 yard in length and stadium layout, designed for tournament play. It has been the setting for many important UK & international tournaments, notably the European Open Championship on two occasions.

Venue:            East Sussex National Golf Course (East Course), Little Horsted, Uckfield, East Sussex TN22 5ES

Telephone:     01825 880088
Time:              10:00 for 11:00 first tee off

Format:         Tea/coffee + bacon rolls on arrival, 18 hole competitions for the Society Strokeplay and Stableford Shields, followed by one course meal and presentation of prizes

Dress for meal: Smart casual

A reasonable turnout of 18 players competing across five competitions as follows:

Society Strokeplay Championship

For those players playing off a society handicap of 20 or less an 18-hole strokeplay competition off full society handicaps. Please putt out no gimmies.

NB: Although not relevant for the day please also keep your stableford scores as they will count towards the player of the year competition (best four stableford scores across the year)

NB: A Maximum Score: score of 5 over par will be used by the society in strokeplay competitions so a “pick up” on a par 3 would be recorded as an 8 and on a par 5 as a 10 etc.  Aimed at avoiding slow play etc.

NB2: Also note we will play an alternative to stroke and distance: This gives golfers the option of dropping “the ball in the vicinity of where the ball is lost or out of bounds (including the nearest fairway area), under a two-stroke penalty. This will help where a ball enters the rough by an inch or two – never to be found again thus saving them a 500yd roundtrip back to the tee to hit another one, again avoiding slow play.

Society Stableford Championship

For those players playing off a society handicap of 21 or more an 18 hole stableford competition off full society handicaps. Please putt out – no gimmies.

Team Competition

The  best 2 stableford scores from the teams of 3 count for this competition.  The usual adjustment being made for the fourball(s) if any.

Longest Drive:  9th hole

Nearest the Pin:  16th hole
