MGS Strokeplay & Stableford Shields – Nizels  GC – June 2023

Nizels

Plenty of water, suncream, towels and a parasol required for Thursday – it’s going to be warm one.  We have two trophies up for grabs.

Our venue is Nizels Golf Club which is a stunning parkland course with a variety of challenges and features. Opened in 1992, this championship course was designed using every feature of the countryside’s natural contours. Measuring 6,361 yards from the back tees, Nizels consists of five Par 5s and five Par 3s, giving golfers of all abilities the chance to make a good score. Perhaps the biggest obstacle are our three lakes, perfectly positioned to catch any ball falling short of several of our

Time:              11:00 for 12:00 first tee off

Format:          Tea/coffee + bacon rolls on arrival, 18 hole individual competition for the Society Strokeplay (better golfers) and Stableford (less good golfers) Championship Trophies.  Two course meal to finish.

Dress for meal: Smart Casual.

Strokeplay Shield

The current holder is not in the field Mr Andy Williams(Nett 70) winning at Cooden Beach – 3 shots ahead of Stuart Bourne in second place. This competition is for society members with a handicap equal to or below 19. Players are respectfully to also asked to record their stableford score as this will count towards the player of the year trophy (best 4 scores during the calendar year)

Stableford Shield

The current holder is in the field Mr John Collingwood with an amazing 49 points 6 ahead of Peter Cudmore in second place. This is an 18-hole stableford competition off full society handicaps for members with a handicap of 20 or more.

Both competitions are trophy events so please putt out – no gimmies !!!

 Team Competition

The best 2 stableford scores from the teams of 3 count for this competition.  Usual adjustment for teams of four.

Nearest the PIN in one – 16th Hole  

Order of play

Tee times start at 12.00 – please be at the tee and ready to go 5 mins before your tee off time.  In addition, please do your very best to keep up with the team in front and not aim to be just ahead of the group behind – Please do avoid slow play at all times – we should aim to complete our rounds comfortably within 4 hours.
