MAD MARCH JUGS (in APRIL !!!)

We look forward to seeing you on Friday at:

Sweetwoods Park Golf Club
Colestock Road,
Cowden,
Edenbridge,
Kent,
TN8 7AY *****

Telephone: 01342 850 729

NB: PLEASE DO NOT USE THE POST CODE IF USING A SAT NAV TO FIND US

Sweetwoods Park borders two counties – Kent and Sussex. This causes many issues. Despite being the correct post code, if entered into a sat nav or in Google maps, the post code will incorrectly direct you to Edenbridge, some miles from where we are.  Instead, please search in your sat nav for Colestock Road, or enter Colestock Road into Google maps and you’ll see our correct location along the A264, in between Tunbridge Wells and East Grinstead.

Current Course Status (Tuesday 17th)

Electric Trolley OK however they must have winter wheels. The 18th hole is still on a temporary tee after maintenance work carried out to the front of the fairway. The weather looks good:

Up for grabs is the first silverware of the year the Mad March Jugs currently held by Kelvin Paterson & Chris Buck – 76 points!

Format and Arrival

The competition rules state that the pairings for The Mad March Jugs Competition should be made on the day, so this will be undertaken at the venue about 11.00 am. Observers are very welcomeGenerally though we are meeting at 11.00/11.30 for 12:00first tee off.

Dress code for meal: smart casual.

The competitions to be played for are:-

Main Event – Mad March Jug Trophies

Each Team will be issued with a yellow golf ball which should be alternated between the team players i.e. Player A responsible for scoring on the odd holes and Player B on the even. Whilst in play the yellow ball will double the stableford score for the individual using it.  The team score is the best stableford score from either player achieved on each hole.

NB: if the yellow ball is lost (which includes the ball leaving the course even if it is found), then both players will continue using a “regular ball” for standard stableford points with the best score from each pair still being counted.

Individual Stableford

To keep everyone interested an individual stableford prize will also be competed for off full society handicaps but only single/ normal stableford points scoring  i.e.  “double bubble” with the yellow ball only counts in Mad March Jugs comp and not in the individual event.

In addition all individual scores will count as a qualifying round for the player of the year competition.

With this in mind the Hon Handicap Secretary respectfully suggests that the normal “single” stableford score for each player are clearly shown on each card with a third column showing the Mad March Jugs Team Score. If the players could also indicate where the points have been doubled (say circle the single score) and where, if indeed it does happen, on which hole the yellow ball was lost or leaves the course would be very helpful!

I hope that is clear if not please clarify with the Hon Handicap Sec before trotting up to the first tee.

Tee times start at 12.00.  We have 20 confirmed players – as this is a pairs competition any last minute withdrawals are potentially problematic and we would encourage anyone who has any doubts about their ability to make the day to let us know as early as possible please (ideally not to drop out on the morning of the day itself).

Look forward to seeing you on Friday for a fantastic afternoon of golf.
