Up for grabs is the first silverware of the year currently held by Dereck Coppard & Jerry Watkiss.
The weather is looking good for Friday with dry week running up to the event:-
The competition rules state that the pairings for The Mad March Jugs Competition should be made on the day, so this will be undertaken at the venue between 11.30am & 11.45am by the Hon Captain Watkiss. Observers are very welcome.
Generally though we are meeting at 11:45/12 noon for 12:45 first tee off
Format: Tea/coffee + bacon rolls on arrival, 18 hole pairs competition for the Mad March Jugs.
One course meal to finish. Dress for meal: smart casual, to include jackets.
The competitions to be played for are:-
Main Event – Mad March Jug Trophies
Each Team will be issued with a yellow golf ball which should be alternated between the team players i.e. Player A responsible for scoring on the odd holes and Player B on the even – the team can tactically decide who is player A and who is player B. Whilst in play the yellow ball will double the stableford score for the individual using it, however, if it is lost (NB: which includes the ball leaving the course even if it is found), then the players will continue using a “normal ball” but for standard single stableford points. The team score is the best individual stableford score from either player achieved on any hole. I hope that is clear if not please clarify with the Hon Handicap Sec before trotting up to the first tee.
Individual Stableford
To keep everyone interested on their non-team scoring holes then an individual stableford prize will also be competed for off full society handicaps as usual. In addition the individual score will also count as a qualifying round for the player of the year competition and as such “normal” single stableford scoring counts i.e. double bubble with the yellow ball only counts in Mad March Jugs comp.
With this in mind the Hon Handicap Secretary respectfully suggesting that the normal “single” stableford score for each player is clearly shown on each card with a third column showing the Mad March Jugs Team Score indicating where the points have been doubled and where, if indeed it does happen, on which hole the yellow ball is lost or leaves the course!

Tee times start at 12.45. We have 16 confirmed players – as this is a pairs competition any last minute withdrawals are potentially problematic and we would encourage anyone who has any doubts about their ability to make the day to let us know as early as possible please (ideally not to drop out on the morning of the day itself).
Look forward to seeing you on Friday for a fantastic afternoon of golf.
