Lewes results

The society welcomed Kevin Hawkins to his first and successful outing with the Mayfield Society. A good turnout of 14 members played at Lewes Golf Club which afforded magnificent sweeping views of the South Downs. The weather was blue skies and dry conditions under foot.

We welcomed Clive Butler to his first duties as Captain after his recent travels. Another person worthy of special mention was Vice Captain Kelvin Paterson who played most of his round in pain after having had to attend an emergency dental appointment just before tee off time. No sympathy though from the Captain was awarded during prize giving!
A slight rejigging of the teams meant a very strong partnership of Mark Hughes (15), Kevin Leftley (14) and Kevin Hawkins (10) was formed. This was a team of Champions League golfers who all put in a magnificent performance to almost sweep the board.
Thanks also to David Howdroyd who stepped in to perform Mickey Mann’s duties admirably.
