Kelvin Paterson wins at Wellshurst on our first MGS outing post Covid 19 lockdown
After some unfortunate issues with our booking at Hever Golf Club we were able to secure some alternative tee times at Wellshurst Golf Club complying strictly with the social distance guidelines in place that allow golf to take place in England. The layout of the course at Wellshurst is very nice with some very interesting holes although it does need some additional love and care and maintenance for it to be a regular fixture on the society’s itinerary. A good turnout of 16 including a big welcome to Tony Coggill, Des Christian and Will Lunn whom we hope will become regulars at the monthly events and indeed we hope they had an enjoyable afternoons golf albeit without the normal social side of a beer and some food afterwards.
The results are shown below with Kelvin clearly having benefited from some home schooling on his golf game during lockdown with a big win this month. Needless to stay his handicap has been cut by a shot or five !! Also worthy of note is Sandi in second place who played very well by all accounts and on another day posting what would be a winning score. Four players came equal third with 36 points see below:-

Just for a change as we had a nice number of 16 and all playing as fourballs – the team event was the accumulation of the best 2 stableford scores for the first 6 holes, the best 3 for the next 6 with all 4 scores counting for the final 6. The results and breakdown are shown below: –

The next monthly meeting is likely to be for the first silverware of the year at Darenth Valley on the 17th July. Hopefully, although I doubt food is an option we maybe able to have a socially distanced post competition beer by then – full details nearer the time. Hopefully we will attract a good number to this event.
