East Brighton results
On a cold and very windy day Micky Mann edges our Mark Hughes and Kevin Leftley at East Brighton
A good turnout of 17 experienced an OK and arguably mild front 9 but a hellish back 9 when a 40 mph cold wind blowing straight off the sea battered the players on the top of the south downs. A number of players had to be reminded that we do this for pleasure and it is not a punishment – indeed Tom lost his hat on 3 occasions with it traveling at 40 mph across the course it had to hit a bank or a tree before it could be caught. The average for the day reflected the tough conditions at just 27.24.
A warm (well it was freezing really) welcome to Rob Montagu and Steve Smith who joined the society for the first time and hopefully got good feel for how the society works and runs. We now even have a vice-Captain who can catch the coin for Heads & Tails – amazing.
Individual Stableford
With a very strong start to his round Micky Mann was able hold on at the end to win the individual spoils:.

Third | Kevin Leftley | 35(17 B9CB) |
Team Stableford
As often happens two out of the three individuals mentioned above were on the same team meaning the team prize was likely to go only one way:

Second | Mark Hughes, Rob Montagu, Steve Smith & James Gallifant | 73 |
Third | Alan Bigley, Nigel Burnett & Sandi Hoolahan | 72 |
Winner Longest Drive: Andrew Burnett winning both LD events in 2020
Winner Nearest the Pin: Kevin Leftley who had to aim 50 ft to the left of the green off the tee for the wind to then blow it back towards the green.
Anorak moment of the report is the day saw 4 birdies taking the seasons total to 11: -

The next monthly meeting is for the first silverware of the year the Mad March Jugs Trophies - a pairs competition to be held at Eastbourne Downs which again should be a dry venue being built on chalk – full details nearer the time. Hopefully we will attract a good number and ideally an even number! to this event 18+ players would be nice.
