Cooden Beach Results
Brian Day wins at Cooden Beach edging out Sandi Hoolahan and Andy Tippett on an unseasonably windy day down on the south coast.
Captain James hosted an excellent day and was incredibly pleased to see an excellent turnout of 27 on Captains day which was played at one of societies favourite courses. Although the fairways were a bit patchy in places the greens were excellent, and we received a warm welcome from the staff and officials at the club. Out on the course the wind was gusting to 30 mph at times with a number of us finding ourselves way out right on the first hole and in trouble. That said we saw some exceptionally good scoring and play with the handicap sec being very pleased with the general pace of play with all teams getting round in well under 4 hours.
The Captain was prominent in the socially distanced prize giving pictures below and we would all like to thank him for his efforts both before and during the day. The Freddie Jones Foundation Trophy was up for grabs with Brian Day needing to get his silver polish out adding another bit of silverware to his newly built trophy cabinet (built during lockdown). The next monthly meeting is at Highwoods Golf Club a venue we have certainly not played fpr a few years. Please note this will take on THURSDAY 17th September. We will be playing for the Anniversary Trophy – full details nearer the time. Hopefully, we will attract 20+ players again to this event.
