Chartham Park results
In glorious sunshine and with another terrific turn out of 28 the pair of Kelvin Paterson and Stuart Bourne took the GBH trophy for 2023.
The day began with everyone congregating on the sunny terrace at Chartham Park for the regular coffee and bacon roll but with a rising sense of excitement as the names of those participating being rapidly written and thrown into the hat for the all important draw. Strangely there was little protest from the resulting pairings which either meant that everyone was absolutely delighted or far too polite to comment!!
Everyone got away on time with the course playing quite short due to the dry conditions. However the greens, though not excessively quick were true allowing for some excellent scoring. The average individual score for the day was a very credible 34pts.
And so to the score cards. Other than the normal legibility issues, clearly the addition of adding a Joker to the mix was just too much for some with some serious Poirot detective work being administered by the stand-in scrutineers of Chris Buck and Jerry Watkiss. We really don’t know how Micky does it but a clear result was finally reached.
Our Captain Alan Bigley, still beaming from winning the ‘heads and tails’ competition again presented the prizes after possibly not the best post match meal we’ve encountered. However, everyone seemed to enjoy the day and congratulations to all our winners. We look forward to our October meeting at Kings Hill.
