Alan Bigley wins the Anniversary Cup with a 6 over par 78 resulting in 38 stableford points

IMG_1813

A disappointing turnout on the day of just thirteen for this prestigious trophy event which was not unexpected with a forecast of heavy showers and lightning at Cooden Beach golf course.  That said the general view was we got away with it weather wise with over 80% of the round being conducted in dry conditions. Surprisingly to some, the average score for the day was an impressive 32.08 so the conditions were not too bad on this mid-summers morning/ afternoon.

Alan Bond returned from over a year abroad winning golf trophies on his travels and now enjoying the liquid sunshine on the south coast.  Very pleasing was the pace of the society with all groups back in the clubhouse in under four hours which was good to see.  The steak and kidney pie post match was a pleasant return to normality with Heads & Tails returning with a vice captain that can actually catch the coin – remarkable!!

Anniversary Cup

This is a stableford competition off full society handicaps with some very good scoring is reflected in the table below with Alan Bigley lifting the trophy who was level par after 2/3rds of his round, with just a few shops dropped in the final 1/3rd and home straight:-

Winner Longest Drive (Hole 18th):  Alan Bigley – excellent shot passing Micky Mann’s solid strike by a mere 30 yards.
