Our website provides an irreverent view into the events, activities and members of the MGS, but never intends to cause insult. Members and guests are welcome to browse the site to review our competition history in the Roll of Honour or preview our forthcoming monthly golf meetings on some of the nicest courses in the South East in Golf Days.

Brian Cheesmur 4 June 1938 – 14 July 2018
Sadly we have to report that Brian Cheesmur, former director of J.Cheesmur & Sons Ltd, died on Saturday 14th July 2018 at St Peters & St James Hospice after a short illness.
Brian, a successful businessman, pillar of the community, keen sportsman all his life and friend to many diverse groups of people, leaves behind Carol his wife of 54 years and his daughter who will miss him terribly. In his retirement he continued to pursue his sporting intuitions by taking up golf and was a member of both Lewes Golf Club and Mayfield Golfing Society. He was also a very keen and talented badminton player well into his late 70s and played in Barcombe, Ringmer as well as at St Marys in Lewes.
Everyone who knew him will without doubt miss this most charming gentleman.

Good to see the society attracting Andy along with Kevin Hawkins and Kevin Leftley making their second and…Read More

At Captain Butler’s request, we are playing Pycombe Not In The Winter. New members may not know that we usually visit this course in the winter months,…Read More
The best day weather wise of the year so far with most players wearing shorts in mid- April – Mr Tippett’s shorts were worthy of particular mention as they sported a pre-Raphaelite watercolour design by Milliase!! The society welcomed Mr David Head (guest) to his first MGS event and to the return of Mr Fred Ablitt and…Read More
